About these figures

Each figure is for an Australian resident who claims the tax-free threshold, has no other income or deductions, holds private hospital cover (so no Medicare levy surcharge) and has no HELP debt. Super is paid by the employer on top of the salary. "Tax + Medicare" is income tax and the Medicare levy as a share of the salary. Each salary's page shows how HELP, super packages and the surcharge change the result.
